Periodontal Therapy
Periodontal disease is an infection of the tissue and bone that surrounds and supports the teeth. If untreated, periodontal disease can result in pain, infection, tooth loss, and even lead to other health problems. Our hygiene team has had advanced periodontal training and utilizes several approaches and techniques to treat this disease. Treatment is planned and developed to address the individual needs of each patient and the nature of their problems. Treatment may include scaling and root planning, a deep cleaning . This is a procedure that is administered gently and comfortably to remove bacteria build up, in the form of plaque and calculus, from under the gums. Removing this from the root surfaces, improves the tone and condition of the gum tissue and eliminates the source of infection that causes bone loss around teeth. In some cases, additional antibacterial therapy is also needed. This may include the use of antibacterial rinses at home and, if required, the placement of antibiotics in the affected areas below the gum-line. These techniques address early to moderate gum disease and periodontal problems and have been shown to have dramatic results. Along with good home care techniques and regular hygiene visits, we can help you dramatically improve your oral and overall health.
