About ASIRD The American Society of Implant & Reconstructive Dentistry (ASIRD) is a nationwide not-for-profit association dedicated to educating consumers on the value of dental implants and the importance of choosing an experienced surgeon and dentist team recognized for having a collaborative relationship to ensure optimal results. These teams work together throughout the process and are committed to providing customized, patient-specific, long-term solutions for your dental implant needs.

Many dentists and surgeons will provide you with implants. However, most do not work or train together. Fewer than 15% of dentists perform five or more implants a year*. Of these, only a few are selected for membership in ASIRD. Membership in the Society is by invitation only and restricted to dentists who meet this level of experience. ASIRD member teams recognize optimal outcomes are the result of dentists working closely together with their surgeon to provide patients with a highly coordinated case treatment. By selecting an ASIRD member, you can be sure that both the surgeon and dentist are proficient in implants and that they will work together throughout the process.

Why ASIRD Chances are you already have a dentist and are perfectly happy. However, when it comes to dental implants, it is important that you find out whether he or she is proficient in the restorative dentistry skills that are required. If your dentist is not an ASIRD member, be sure to ask how many dental implant cases he/she completed last year. Ask about the surgeon that will be placing your implant. Do they collaborate together as a team? Or are you simply being referred to the surgeon for the implant placement and then directed back to your dentist to finish the restoration?

When you work with an ASIRD dentist, you know that your dentist has completed extensive qualified continuing education in order to provide up-to-date dental care in a safe and comfortable manner.

ASIRD dentists are required to restore a minimum of five dental implant cases each year in order to maintain their membership. They must also complete extensive didactic and hands-on clinical training in technology, aesthetics and dental health. ASIRD dentists complete a rigorous clinical peer review process, which requires a high degree of commitment and skill. These qualifications of membership are how you know your ASIRD dentist is experienced in advanced procedures, techniques, and products, and will provide up-to-date dental care in a safe and comfortable manner. Through their commitment to education and technology, ASIRD teams are able to provide optimal treatment and quality dental care.

Dr. Dahm and Dr.’s Ben and Carl Johnson are all members of ASIRD.

As an ASIRD member, Dr.s Ben and Carl Johnson have specialized education and training in the complexities of the bone, skin, muscles and nerves involved, to ensure you get optimal results. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are the only dental specialists recognized by the American Dental Association as surgically trained in a hospital-based residency program for a minimum of four years. After more than 20 years of service, the vast majority of dental implants first placed by oral and facial surgeons in the United States continue to function as well as healthy natural teeth. More importantly, the recipients of those early dental implants are still satisfied they made the right choice.

Why use an ASIRD team?

Quality surgical and restorative patient care is the core principle of the American Society of Implant & Reconstructive Dentistry.

ASIRD was organized for the primary purpose of improving the quality of care for dental implant patients by elevating the standards of surgical and restorative dental education and practice, and educating consumers on the benefits of dental implants, and the importance of choosing a qualified dental team.

Not every dentist routinely restores and maintains dental implants, and not all placers of dental implants are surgeons. By using an ASIRD team, rest assured that Dr. Fred Dahm routinely restores and maintains dental implants and only Dr. Ben and Carl Johnson will place your implant. By actively participating together in ASIRD qualified dental implant education programs, we are able to offer you cutting-edge technologies and advanced innovations.

ASIRD membership is by invitation only and reviewed annually. Members must undergo an application process, peer review and license verification. Members must perform a minimum number of implant procedures each year in order to maintain their membership level, as well as maintain active participation in an ASIRD qualified dental implant education program.
